Come
On Down This Saturday Night at 8pm!!!
January
13

With big hearts and open minds,
international percussionists and teaching artists, Lara Gonzalez and
Yael Shacham, fell in love with West Africa. They travel frequently
to Guinea to focus on the dynamic and lyrical music & dance from
a variety of ethnic groups. Ochun, the Yoruba goddess of love and
water, brought them brought them musically together with teaching
artist and chanteuse, Jennifer Starr, for a cosmic love commission .
An imaginative and highly trained vocalist who coaxes the melody out
of the melody, Jen takes the groupe to a magical place. As a
percussionist, she fuel injects the groove with her fearless and
radiant energy. Rounding out the quartet for 2006 is international
percussionist, teaching artist and set-drum player, David Freeman.
Together these pioneering ladies, and one gentleman, present an
artistic expression combining rhythm, movement, song and spoken word
in poetic motion. This group is already known for diverse
creativity, as well as, their commitment to the therapeutic,
developmental, educational and transformative power of the drum.
They are determined to change the world beat by beat.
Admission is free and party attendees are
welcome to bring a nosh or nip to share. We pass the hat to
collect donations for our gracious performers. Just RSVP to contact@homegrownradionj.com
