What is it?
HomeGrownRadioNJ is an internet based radio
station you can listen to on your computer. It can also be streamed
through your stereo system with the right inexpensive equipment!
Where is it
located?
The Storefront home of HomeGrown is located just
north of Blairstown New
Jersey
in the Marksboro section of Frelinghuysen.

How do I
listen?
Click the red Listen
Live link in the banner of any page on our
website. Your default media player will pop up and you will be able to
hear the station. We sound best with DSL or faster speed. If you don’t
have Windows Media Player it is a free download.
Do I have to
be at my computer to listen?
There are ways to broadcast the station into other
rooms and speakers throughout your home. Go to the bottom of our h
ome page and click the link to Pump
HomeGrownRadioNJ into your stereo. Rocket FM is one way to do this.
Some simple wires available at any electronic store will get HGRNJ through
your home and on your deck!
How about
listening in my car?
There are new devices to bring internet radio
into your car. Prices are coming down and mobile internet radio will
be widely available within the next few years. Soon w

ope to make
pod casting available, which you can listen to in your car or anywhere you
have your ipod.
Who started
the station?
Todd Mills started the independent internet
station after 10 years as a radio deejay on a terrestrial station. He got
frustrated with the growing restrictions of that station’s new format.
He knew the technology was there to for an internet radio station.
He rented a store front and using his skills as a carpenter, built the
shelving for the equipment he purchased. He told some friends about
his new venture and everyone pitched in painting, donating equipment and
furniture. You can see photos of the station on the website.
When did the
station start?
October 30th, 2004
, Mischief
night. And they have been making radio mischief ever since.
How many
deejays are there?
That night they started with one dozen deejays.
There are now over 50 volunteer deejays.
Who decides
what they play?
Each deejay is responsible for their own
program. There are no playlists or programming directors. We

What do they
play?
HomeGrownradioNJ has deejays who play jam bands,
jazz, classical, oldies, folk, funk, techno, disco, retro, rock and roll.
brit pop, indie and cutting edge new. Lots of independent artsists, local
yocals and world music all together. You name it you’ll hear it on
HomeGrown.

How
do you pay for the station?
We have advertisers who help out and listeners
who donate to the operational costs. HGRNJ is mainly a listener-supported
station through contributions directly to the station. Also our sale
of t-shirts. And by our HGRNJ Concerts, House Parties and Festivals.
What
else makes the station unique?
The
station broadcasts live In-Studio “House Party” concerts of
independent musicians. HGRNJ also does live broadcasts from remote
locations, such as The Stanhope House, Mexacali Blues Cafe, , the Sherman
Theater, even the station manager’s living room!
