"It's Ron's Oldies and Doo-Wop Show"
with Ron Serafin

Sundays from 8am to 11am

Hi everyone, my name is Ron. It has long been a dream of mine to play oldies on the radio, and I am very excited to have this chance to share the music with all of you. I was brought up in "an oldies family" and every family party turned into an 50's festival. As a child, I really came to enjoy and love the "Roots of Rock-n-Roll Music". Old rhythm and blues from the mid to late 40's are much of the basis of this music. And I have so much great music to share with you all.

No radio experience have I, just have been a listener my whole life. And, even though my teen years were in the 70's, I enjoyed the 50's and 60's music very much. Heck, I even got to see Elvis in concert once in 1974. I love the music by Elvis, the Cadillacs, the Imperials, the Teenagers, the Flamingoes, Little Richard, Buddy Holly, Jay and the Americans, Roy Orbison, the Everly Bros. and many, many others. My image of my Grandma singing "Poison Ivy" by the Coasters in the kitchen, lingers in my mind.

I have some interesting features in mind. Every week I will give you a featured artist. We'll focus on music by our featured artist, and, maybe some little tidbits that I can dig up from some old books or on the net. Another thing I'm going feature is remakes. There are many songs that were remade over the years, even during the 50's there were many remakes of hit songs. Interesting to hear the differences in these versions. And, probably my most interesting weekly feature will be "Songs from Dad's Closet".. My Dad has a pretty incredible collection of old 45's and 78's from the late 40's through the 50's. And some stuff is very hard to find on CD today. But, we'll hear these songs complete with the surface sounds of a turntable. Yes, I do have a turntable at home that plays 78's.

So, you will hear plenty of the songs and artists that you have come to know and love over the years. This will not be all about the rare and unheard. But, we will have sprinkles of songs that you may not have heard for a while, or things that you never knew existed. Most of all, we will have fun together. Please feel free to e-mail me your requests, I will do my best to get as many of your requests on the air. Make this your show as well as mine!

I definitely look forward to spending my Sunday mornings with you, and to bringing out some of the greatest music ever recorded. Drop by, have a listen and enjoy.
